Description
Testosterone (Testo) is an androgen hormone that’s produced by the adrenal cortex, the testes, and the ovaries. The endocrine glands make hormones. Men produce hormones in their testes, and women make them in their ovaries. In men, the hormone plays a key role in: sex drive, sperm production, muscle and bone growth, deepening of the voice and hair growth, the development of male sex organs and mood. Though women produce less testosterone than men, the hormone still plays a vital role in how a woman’s body functions. In women, testosterone helps with bone strength, ovarian function, sex drive. Testosterone monitoring is used clinically to diagnose and differentiate endocrine disorders. In males, testosterone abnormality is related to hypogonadism, testicular failure, infertility, hypopituitarism and hyperprolactinemia. In females, polycystic ovary syndrome, adrenal hyperplasia, infertility, hirsutism, amenorrhea, obesity and virilization can cause changes in serum testosterone levels.

Intended Use
Testosterone Assay Kit is a chemiluminescent microparticle immunoassay (CMIA) for the quantitative determination of Testosterone (Testo) in human serum and plasma. The assay kit is intended for in vitro diagnostic use.
Principle
The Testosterone assay is a quantitative competitive immunoassay to determine the presence of Testo in human serum and plasma using CMIA technology with flexible assay protocols.
- Sample, and paramagnetic anti-Testo coated microparticles are mixed, Testo present in the sample is displaced from the Testo binding protein and binds to anti-Testo coated microparticles, forming an antigen antibody complex.
- After incubation, a conjugate containing acridinium-labeled Testo is added to the reaction mixture and binds to unoccupied binding sites of the anti-Testo coated microparticles.
- After further incubation and washing, Pre-Trigger and Trigger Solutions are added to the reaction mixture.
- The resulting chemiluminescent reaction is measured as relative light units (RLUs). There is a relationship between the amount of Testo in the sample and the RLUs detected by the optical system. Results are calculated automatically based on the previously established calibration curve.
Storage
The kit should be stored upright, not upside down or horizontally. Store at 2–8°C with a validity period of 12 months.
